Customer rating is 4 of 5  Good Mat   2010-02-15

This mat fit my 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander well. It provided a good cushion for my luggage holder. It is very similar to drawer liners but is more convenient because the width is much larger.

This is a convenient and useful tool to protect my wagon when using the roof top carrier. I used it for a recent 1100 mile trip and will use it in the future.
Customer rating is 4 of 5  Works but overpriced   2009-10-21
By Ramkumar Balaraman (Boston, MA)
Got this when I had to carry 2 semi-hard-shell suitcases on the roof of our Jeep Liberty for about 250mi from NY to boston. Used a tarp to wrap the suitcases rather than get a separate cargo bag. Used ratcheting straps hooked to the roof rails to hold the suitcases firmly against the roof. A corner of the tarp that was loose and flapping was tattered by the time we got home but it did protect the suitcases and was way cheaper than a cargo bag. I did debate putting the suitcases on cross-bars on the roof rather than directly on the roof, but the former would have given much greater wind resistance.

The mat held up well and there was not a single scratch to the roof of the car. Having said that, however, this was very similar in construction to the rubber shelf liners you get at wal-mart for much, much cheaper. You could get a pretty wide roll for less than half the price of this, fold it into 2 layers for greater protection, and still have a lot of the roll left over to line up shelves at home.

I admit to not knowing what to expect, but this just felt too overpriced for what I got. 1/8-inch thickness isn't exactly what I would call 'super thick' either.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Purchase with the Sherpak roof bag   2009-08-23

This mat is similar to that squishy stuff that you put under rugs to keep them from slipping around. Same idea. I bought it with the sherpak roof bag because it was going to be flat on the roof of the car and I was concerned about scratching and movement. They worked beautifully together, we had no trouble with the bag slipping around and there wasn't a single scratch on the roof top.

UPDATE:7/10/09 To anyone that wants to know this goes under the roof bag to keep it from sliding and scratching your roof. The bag we bought had no padding under it this was perfect. It is made out of the stuff you use in your camper or in the cabinets to keep things from moving around. It is of course is much thicker. I was very pleased with it and would buy again if I ever needed one.
